Too much medication is being mishandled or wasted. It threatens both patient safety, the environment and the health economy. Medicine must benefit citizens and patients. Drug waste must stop.
Alliance Stop Medicine Waste's vision is to create a professional movement that works to create practical and political solutions to reduce drug waste. The movement aims to reduce society's costs and improve the quality of life among all the country's citizens, with the right medicine at the right dose at the right time.
Waste of medicine is an unknown problem that the alliance wants citizens, politicians and communities to deal with and stop. Through politics, concepts and campaigns, everyone in the country must know how to store and dispose of medicines.
Based on an innovation camp, the Alliance has identified and qualified a number of effective concepts to reduce drug waste. Four concepts have moved on to test & trial in 2020.
The Alliance will be published in 2020 with a policy paper with concrete policy proposals and a political summit at Christiansborg, where the Health Minister will take the document further for consideration and reflection.
The "Hit with the Medicine" campaign will launch in spring 2021, and will be announced and action-wide.
