Task
The World Food Summit was founded in 2016 as a summit for global players – both private and public – in the food industry. The Ministry of Environment and Food hosted the summit, which has been an annual event since.
The World Food Summit focuses on both policy solutions and practical actions to create cross-border cooperation and partnerships to find global solutions to global problems.
Results
In 3 months, Nextstep created the vision and strategy behind the World Food Summit – Better Food for More People. Nextstep served as moderator and process leader at the first two summits.
The World Food Summit kick-started an international food movement with the backing of key Danish and international players. The summit provided concrete inspiration for actions that support more people's access to better food. Including the establishment of a global food waste think tank, inspiration for a new government initiative, Gastro 2025, and the establishment of inter-ministerial cooperation focusing on better food for children, the elderly and the low-skilled people who identify necessary actions for change.
The first three summits provided the following results:
2016: Charter identifying necessary actions for change.
2017: Roadmap identifying food challenges and providing recommendations for action.
2018: Political commitment from 10 countries to find solutions such as the United Nations Sustainability Goals.
